There are 4 main steps in crafting a mosaic. The main focus always lays on the quality of the mosaic and the right selection of the stone colours. Secondly, comes the execution. Once the mosaic is ready there are couple of main aspects in order to ensure the craft of the mosaic. 

Many artists use only glue, which in general is right but does not deliver life-long guarantee. Maria Kumanova uses not only glue but also metal net and cement. The process is the following: once the glue is on the opposite side of the mosaic we put the metal net and inundate the back of the mosaic. This ensures that after couple of hours the mosaic will be close to indestructible. This method was developed many years ago and was used in the Crete style of mosaics.
